EMC Technical Articles/Resources

Some are mine, some are from the government, and some are just good books

Over the years I have written many technical articles. Usually it's because someone asks me a question about something and I discover that few people know anything about the subject. Occasionally it's because someone else has written an article about something and it's obvious that they don't know what they are talking about and I try to set the record straight. I am always amused by the fact that if you write a great article no one sends you an email that says: Ron, that was a really great article! However when you make a mistake your friends all send you an email or they may even call you on the phone and say: Ron, we thought you knew better than that! The great thing about writing articles is you get peer reviewed whether you want to be or not.

I have had a lot of articles published in Evaluation Engineering and they are available by going to their article archive. They cover everything from EMC fundamentals to EMC problems in spacecraft and recently one about the difficulties in protecting sailboats from lightning damage. Currently I am writing blog articles for EMC-Zone.com and over the last two years I've written about 40. Many of them are about grounding and that seems to be a hot topic right now. Some of the articles are about RF safety and I've had a lot of fun picking-on Smart Electric Meters.

Articles that may help with your EMC/ESD design program

These are articles that I have written. Let me know if you want me to write about a particular topic.

A few good EMC reference books

There are some really good EMC/ESD reference books available and I have many of them. I can't list them all, and you wouldn't want to rush out and buy them all at once anyway. The following are special because of the way they treat particular subjects.

Clicking on the links will take you to Amazon to learn more about the books

Government standards and handbooks

Some of these are requirements documents and some are design guides. Although these documents are not that difficult to find online, I plan on making these specific ones available as a convienience. Right now this is just a list.

Future plans
